Shanghai World Expo 2010: Urban Best Practices AreaRhône-Alpes Region is taking part to the Shanghai World Expo 2010 within the original framework of the Urban Best Practices Area. Rhône-Alpes Pavilion will reflect innovation in terms of sustainable development, focusing on the use of space, the quality of the living environment and energy efficiency.
The program of activities within the Rhône-Alpes Pavilion will be spread over 13 thematic weeks, aiming at establishing the Rhône-Alpes Region as an innovative model for urban development. Rhône-Alpes has delegated to Université de Lyon the coordination of the thematic week entitled: “Imagining and planning Post Carbon Cities”.

-Public spaces and ways of life. Better city, better life: will provide examples of innovative ideas on public space design, taking into account environment sustainability, and new practices and ways of life.
-Greencities, green districts. Innovative building experiments made in Rhône-Alpes regarding sustainable development : architecture, building technologies, constructive systems, materials, but also global design of a “symbiotic city system”, as a model for resilient cities.
-Planning Post Carbon Cities. New issues in urban planning with a view to the development of resilient cities. Experiments in Rhône-Alpes and Europe.
