Doctoral schools

Accredited by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the doctoral schools supervise and instruct aspiring doctors during three years of scientific studies carried out at the very highest level, until the final submission of the doctoral thesis. The doctoral schools accept holders of a master's degree based on the criteria of scientific excellence, motivation and merit. PhD students are assigned to a research team and placed under the supervision of an authorized research director. There are 17 doctoral schools at the Université de Lyon, covering all research fields.
